Obaji, in a statement, signed by the director of police relations, Comrade Obi Gabriel, said the feat was a pleasant surprise and the first of its kind in the state.
While underscoring the essence of the gesture as a handshake between the Oyo State government and the students community, he said, “I send commendations to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Mr Seyi Makinde over his kind gesture of releasing 28 buses to universities, tertiary institutions and the general students community of Oyo.

“Although NAUS has come to understand that this development had been in the works before now, nevertheless, on behalf of over 10 million students in universities across the country, I express sincere appreciation to you.
Speaking further, he said, ” The plight of Nigerian Students is one that deserves the sympathy and support of the larger society, especially with the increased cost of living which is being felt more by them.

“Across board, plans should be concretised to alleviate our sufferings, and students need to feature prominently in specific developments like food bank creation, subsidized cost of essential foodstuffs, bursary options and etc.”
