Kano State government has received a donation of two digital firefighting trucks from the federal government for disaster management.

At the unveiling of the trucks allocated to the state by the Federal Fire Service, Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed gratitude to the federal government and gave assurance of making judicious use of the trucks.

He said the equipment would enhance the safety and security of the people of the state.

The governor’s spokesperson Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, in a statement issued yesterday, said the governor accepted the donation from the controller of the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command.

He pledged to furnish the agency with vital resources to enable it discharge its constitutional duties efficiently.

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to the safety of life and property, the governor said the new firefighting vehicles would enhance his administration’s ongoing endeavours to ensure a swift and efficient response to fire emergencies.

In his address, the controller of the Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, Mr. A. Kazeem, underscored the importance of the newly deployed digital fire-fighting trucks in safeguarding lives and properties in the state.

He said some advanced features of the fire-fighting trucks included their 600-litre water capacity and 50-liter foam compound for effective fire suppression.
