The Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA), has dissolved all its taskforce, revenue agents and contractors as well as consultants and representatives doing business on its behalf.
This is even as the Advertising Practitioners Association (APA), has rejected the appointment of a non-advertising practitioner as the managing director of the agency.
RISAA, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by its new managing director, Hon Aye Atama Pepple, said the dissolution was with immediate effect.
The statement said that there would be a revalidation, which commencement date would be communicated to all affected parties.
“The Rivers State Signage and Advertisement Agency (RISAA) hereby announces the dissolution of all taskforce, revenue agents, consultants, contractors and representatives doing business on behalf of the agency with immediate effect.
“Furthermore, there will be a revalidation exercise, which commencement date will be communicated to all affected parties, and until this exercise is concluded, the public is advised not to engage in any dealings with anyone on behalf of the agency,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the Advertising Practitioners Association (APA), has said the appointment of a non-practitioner as the agency’s managing director was unacceptable.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt, APA chairman in the state, Dr Dike Bekwele, said the appointment of a non-advertising practitioner violated the provisions of the RISAA Law and the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act, 2022.
