Police Present N1.5bn To Deceased Officers’ Families

The inspector-general of police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has presented a cheque of N1.594,625,151.66 to the families and beneficiaries of deceased officers.

The cheques were presented at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters, Abuja to 727 beneficiaries of families of deceased officers who died in 2018/2019, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023.

The IGP charged them to use the money for the benefit of the families left behind by the officers.

He said this is the fifth batch of cheque disbursement since he took over as the inspector-general of police.

A breakdown of the disbursement showed that about N55 million is disbursed to 311 beneficiaries for group life insurance.

Also, about N761 million is disbursed to 178 beneficiaries for balance payment for life assurance.

The IGP also said about N167 million was disbursed to 78 beneficiaries for full group life assurance 2022/2023.

About N113 million was disbursed as 100 per cent insurance payment for 149 beneficiaries.

The IGP also stated that so far, over N7 billion has been disbursed to over 2,000 families as life assurance and IGP welfare insurance.

He expressed hope that this will help the families in this period of hardship.
