The Resource Centre for Human Rights and Civic Education (CHRICED) has sought for the collaboration of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in budget tracking of constituency projects.
CHRICED programme officer, Mr Omoniyi Adenoye, solicited for the support when he led his team on a courtesy visit to the Kano State office of ICPC yesterday.
He said constituency projects are being tracked in order to ensure effective service delivery from the lawmakers and well-being of the nation.

He expressed sadness on how some projects in the country were misappropriated and said more efforts need to be put in place to monitor the trends; citing example of how five hundred million naira was being used to build a palace for a traditional ruler while Nigerians are hungry, saying “this is ridiculous.”
The programme officer also added that the budget padding saga is also a disturbing trend which has to be tackled with utmost care.

“We acknowledge your support and the sacrifice you have been doing to ensure that we achieved our mandate, we must commend your tireless efforts and we solicit for more,” he said.
The resident anti-corruption commissioner, Barrister Ibrahim Garba, in his remarks appreciated their visit and assured them of the needed support. He added that, for success to be achieved all hands needed to be put on deck without any bias or selfish interest.

“We are ever ready to assist you with all the needed information with a view to curtailing the menace of corrupt practices and other related offences,” Garba said.
