The rankings released on the ICC website sees Nigeria leap to 26th from 27th, the position they were heading to the 13th African Games in Ghana.

Nigeria was the lowest ranked team among seven other countries, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Namibia, Uganda and Tanzania who featured in the women’s event.

The Female Yellow Greens historic victory against Namibia for the first time in five meetings, and the three wickets victory over Uganda in the bronze medal match plays a huge role in their new rankings.

With cricket making a debut at the Games and Nigeria finishing in third place at the event, the team will look ahead to participate at the Kwibuka T20 Women’s Tournament in Rwanda in May.
