Bauchi Takes Ramadan Palliatives Distribution To Grassroots

Bauchi State commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, Hon Hajara Yakubu Wanka, has implored officials of Kirfi local government area to ensure equitable and just distribution of Ramadan fast palliatives.
Speaking at the weekend when she handed the food items over to representatives of the 13 wards that make up the council, in continuation of her committee’s delivery of the items to the 323 wards across the state, the commissioner said the foodstuff will reduce the hardships being encountered by the people.

She enjoined leaders at the wards to have the fear of Allah in their hearts in the process of sharing the items to beneficiaries, stressing that a monitoring mechanism has been put in place to ensure a smooth sharing process.

Wanka also disclosed that soon, Governor Bala Mohammed will unveil yet another segment of the palliative programme, the third of its kind since the advent of the present administration in the state to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal with its attendant economic meltdown.
The commissioner thanked the local government administration for the orderly manner the exercise was being conducted and pledged her ministry’s continued support and cooperation at all times.

In his welcome address, the caretaker committee chairman of Kirfi LGA, Hon. Abdulkadir Dewu, appreciated Governor Mohammed for the consistent assistance and support his administration has given to vulnerable members of their communities.
Dewu observed that the humanitarian assistant is coming hand-in-hand with infrastructural development that are so pronounced and spread across the length and breadth of the state.

In his vote of thanks, Wamban Bauchi, who also doubles as the district head of Kirfi, Alhaji Lawan Mohammed Kirfi expressed appreciation for the distribution exercise, and enjoined the residents of his domain to pray fervently for Governor Bala Mohammed, and his cabinet members, especially at this period of the last ten days of the Ramadan fast.

Our correspondent reports that Kirfi local government area got 308 bags of rice, 924 bags of maize, 616 bags of millet and 154 bags of sugar, making a total of 2,002 assorted grains and sugar as Ramadan food palliatives.
The committee has so far delivered the palliatives to Darazo, Misau, Katagum, Kirfi, Dambam, Warji, Ningi, Ganjuwa among others.
