Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Stephen NtukEkpo, has expressed optimism that the ruling APC at the centre would seize the mantle from the Peoples Democracy Party (PDP) in 2027.

NtukEkpo said  indications on the ground point to the fact that “the APC is set to wrest the political leadership of Akwa Ibom State from the ruling PDP come the next round of national elections.”

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of a fully digitised ward office donated as the APC wards office at Ibiatuk, Mbiabong Ward 9, in Ibiono Ibom local government area, by a United States (US) – based stalwart of the party, Dr. Marshall Umoren, NtukEkpo said the ongoing rebuilding of structures at the state, chapter and ward levels puts the party on a pedestal to bounce back stronger in the next polls.

Represented by a party chieftain, Elder Umo Ekop, NtukEkpo, noted that “significant developments in the party are strong indications of the vigorous determination of the APC to weigh in and capture power in the next election year in Akwa Ibom State.”

Describing the initiative of the diaspora ambassador and party chieftain as an extraordinary step in the interest of the party, NtukEkpo, challenged other party adherents to equally rise up and emulate the gesture.

However, Umoren, who described himself as a medical professional with interest in politics said the gift to the party, was “initiated in the spirit of service to give the ruling national party a credible face and a befitting identity within the  local political scene.”
