Man, 25, Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Friend In Kano

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Abba Garba Ibrahim, for allegedly stabbing his friend, 22-year-old Zaharaddeen Iliyasu, to death.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Chiranci Dorayi Quarters in Kano.

According to a press release issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, posted on his Facebook page, a distress call had alerted Police to a dispute between the two friends.

“On arrival at the scene, the body was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano where a medical doctor certified the body dead, whereas the suspect, Abba Garba Ibrahim was arrested in an attempt to escape to Niger Republic.

“The situation was immediately brought under control and the suspect was transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section for discrete investigation,” he stated.

Preliminary investigations suggested Ibrahim acted alone under the influence of drugs. He has been transferred to the Kano State Police Command’s Homicide Section for further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, condemned the act and assured residents of a thorough investigation and prosecution. He also appealed to the public to continue cooperating with the police and providing necessary support.
