Hisbah Arrests 7 Women Over Alleged Theft In Kano

Kano State Hisbah Board, also called the Shari’a Police, on Tuesday confirmed arresting seven women it accused of stealing fabrics and other textile materials at the popular textile market, Kantin Kwari in Kano.

The suspects were apprehended after a constabulary police officer, who was conniving with them to perpetrate the criminal activity was also arrested, Kano Municipal Command of the Hizbah Board said.

Commenting on the development, Chairman of the Kantin Kwari Market, Hamisu Nama said the suspects have been terrorising the market for a while, particularly during congestion period.

He commended the Hisbah officials for the operation that led to the arrest of the women who confessed to committing the crime while speaking to newsmen.

The suspects also confirmed that they usually visit the market from neighbouring states to perpetrate their criminal acts.
