The Chairman of Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-corruption Commission (PCAC), Muhyi Magaji Rimingado, has been suspended by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) following allegations of misconduct and breaches of public officer conduct.

Rimingado was arraigned in Abuja on Thursday, facing charges ranging from conflict of interest to false asset declaration and accepting bribes. The Tribunal granted a motion for his suspension, directing him to step aside from his position pending the resolution of the case.

Sources have revealed plans to appeal the ruling, citing a standing court order restraining Rimingado’s arraignment and the processes of investigative bodies like the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and the EFCC.

It could be recalled that the Kano State government had dragged the Federal Government before the State High Court over what it described as harassment and intimidation of the PCACC chairman by three federal agencies.

This was sequel to an invitation sent to the PCACC and its officials by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and Code of Conduct Bureau, respectively, to answer questions over the state’s commission’s administration from 2011 to date.

In an exparte order, the court, presided by Justice Farouk Adamu, ordered the federal agencies and their agents to stop questioning or investigating officials of the PCACC.
