The Sokoto North Senator said on Friday that he was shocked by the news of Ogbonnaya’s death, describing the deceased as a consumate politician and a dedicated democrat.

Wamakko opined that the late ex-minister would be remembered for “his uprightness, passion for a united Nigeria”, adding he will remained a guide for the nation’s intelligentsia.

The former Sokoto governor further described the late Ogbonnaya Onu “as an accomplished scholar, an engineer of respectable standing, who stood for progressivism and good governance.”

He explained that the late Onu’s legacy of illustrious political career “leaves a huge gap on Nigeria’s political firmament”, adding that “as a true patriot, Ogbonnaya’s exemplary private and public life stood him out as a dedicated servant of Nigeria.”
