Operatives of the Nigeria Police have killed two members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network, IPOB/ESN, when they raided the hideout of the outlawed group in the Akwuke community of Enugu South Local Government Area in Enugu State.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Adejobi Olumuyiwa, said the operatives were met with high resistance by the unscrupulous elements but were subdued due to the superior firepower of the operatives.

He said, “two IPOB criminals were killed, one AK-47 rifle was recovered, one submachine gun (SMG), one stainless pump action gun (PAG), 27 live and 23 expended rounds of 7.62mm calibre of ammunition were recovered and also five live cartridges.”

Adejobi said investigation revealed that the breech number of the AK-47 had been wiped off but still, the magazine bore the Nigeria Police colour, suggesting they must have been carted away during attacks on police formations.

Also, in other operation, the operatives of the Jigawa State Command, in conjunction with local vigilantes while acting on credible intelligence, stormed the Dangoli Fulani camp of Kiyawa Local Government Area where they arrested two suspects in connection with a case of culpable homicide and robbery.
