A civil society organisation (CSO) committed to accountable and due diligence in the management of socio-economic assets by government, agencies and institutions, Centre for Human Rights and Accountability Network (CHRAN), has charged those entrusted with the World Bank’s programmes in Akwa Ibom State to show commitment and transparency.

The centre said it was currently tracking all World Bank/ federal and state government-funded programmes and projects executed under the AK-CARES Phase 2, “to ensure transparency and accountability of the programme in Akwa Ibom State.”

The director of CHRAN, Franklyn Isong, stated this during a one-day sensitisation meeting for stakeholders of small and medium entreprises (SMEs) in Eket senatorial district held over the weekend in Eket local government area.

The event organised by the steering committee of the AK-CARES Programme Phase 2, it was gathered, was designed by the Governor Umo Eno-led administration to empower small scale businesses to stimulate the local economy of the state.
