Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament in its second edition at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, Engr. Nimrod said his philosophy is to build youth and develop sports especially volleyball, adding that the tournament held after every Sallah festival will be sustained. “To build youth is my philosophy.

“The crowd here is beyond my imagination which means that the game of volleyball is growing so fast. What surprised me is the young players. We will encourage them to be the best and achieve their potential.

I’ve seen some players that in the next two years they would get called up to the national camp so if you think you have arrived others would come to kick you out.

“I am encouraged that some players see Peter that went to Ghana (All African Games) to play with international players who came to play here, I’ve seen Uche. They came to motivate the players. I’ve seen a lot of potential here. Next year we are going to initiate another public holiday so that Kaduna state will continue to develop its volleyball because beach volleyball started here at Murtala Square. As you improve, be careful of the love of money because money will not take you anywhere.”

Speaking of the Presidents Cup that precedes the Sallah Slam, Engr. Nimrod said the preparation for the annual tourney is fantastic. “The Presidents Cup is going to be competitive. Everybody is going back to beach volleyball since we were on the podium in Ghana All African Games. We also want to be on the podium in Casablanca, Morocco. We have lots of tournaments coming up. We have the President Cup, the Division Two in Owerri (Imo state) to be followed by the Premier League”.
