A 40-year-old man, Riba Kwanta has been taken into custody of the Adamawa State Police Command after surrendering himself following the alleged killing of his wife.

Kwanta allegedly slit the throat of his wife, Mrs Godiya Akwale, and locked her corpse up in the room before escaping to Ondo State to escape justice.

The suspect who married his late wife about three years ago, was said to have committed the crime in December 2023.

Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, while confirming the incident in Yola on Wednesday, said the suspect surrendered himself when he could no longer have peace in his hideout in Ondo.

As such, he decided to return to shelleng where he committed the crime and handed himself over to the Divisional Police headquarters in the area.

It was from the Division that the suspect was brought to the State Police Command in Yola where he is currently being held for interrogations on culpable homicide.
