Lagos State government has called on private sector operators in the state to join hands with the government to facilitate socio-economic development of the state.

The commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, who made the call said strong collaboration between government and the private sector has become expedient to extend dividends of democracy across all strata of the people.
Ogunlende, spoke at the unveiling of Hyde Energy’s football competition, named The Mechanics

Champions League, taking place across the five divisions in the state.
The aim of the football competition is to celebrate the mechanics in the state, whom they believe are the unsung heroes.

The competition is expected to kick off on April 21st and end on May 26th, 2024.
The commissioner said, to echo the importance of the administration under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in this second administration, our agenda is THEMES plus which aims to incorporate social inclusion, gender equality, and youth engagement.

“The pluses in the THEME agenda are, very simply, the fact that we are not leaving anyone behind, irrespective of your background, your race, your culture, or your pursuit in life. The administration is not leaving anyone behind.” he explained.

As the Honourable Commissioner, “I also want to show you that the government is in support of such an initiative; if it’s not important enough, I will not be here, and this is what we are talking about: collaborations. We have three collaborations here. We have collaboration between Hyde Energy’s, the Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association (Nata), and the state government.”
He said neither government nor private sector will be able to shoulder responsibility of development alone, saying that is why partnership and strong collaboration would be encouraged to make our community a better place.

He said if this kind of collaboration is emulated by others there will be a spread of development to make not only Lagos great but also the whole country and by extension, the continent of Africa.
