Mbaya will oversee the affairs of the 1.5 million worshippers of the church in the next four years.

The former president, Rev Joel Billi, during his farewell speech, thanked members of the church for their support which led to the rebuilding of 87 churches destroyed by insurgents in the last eight years.

Billi listed the church’s Brethren Microfinance Bank in Yola, completion of the headquarters office complex and church auditorium as some of the notable projects carried out during his tenure.

The church which relocated to Jos, Plateau State for better operations due to insurgency attacks returned to Kwarhi the headquarters to pursue effective rebuilding of the destroyed places of worship.

Rev Billi, who acknowledged the return of normalcy in some troubled areas, said much needs to be done as the country is witnessing security challenges which require much more attention than before.

“Remember to be Christ-centered and church-focused. We must not tread the path of parochial sentiments, ethnicity or religion so that we can move the church to greater heights,” he told the delegates.
