16-year-old Kano Boy Gets Hajj Seat For Quran Recitation

A 16-year-old boy identified as Ja’afar Yusuf has been allocated a free 2024 Hajj seat for his ability to memorize the complete Qur’an and his knowledge of its contents.

Making the presentation on behalf of Governor Abba Yusuf, the director- general of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Danbappa, said the young man’s extraordinary talent in memorizing the Qur‘an has captivated hearts and minds, hence the allocation.

He said the boy possesses an exceptional understanding of every word and its location within the holy book, demonstrating an unparalleled commitment to his faith and its teachings.

In a statement issued by the board’s information officer, Sulaiman Dederi, governor Yusuf commended the young man for his dedication, perseverance, and mastery of the Qur’an, describing him as a shining example of the rich cultural and religious heritage of Kano State.

He emphasised the importance of nurturing and supporting young talents such as Yusuf, who represent the future leaders and ambassadors of the state.

“The allocation of the Hajj seat to Yusuf who is from Goron-Dutse in Dala Local Government area serves as a token of recognition and appreciation for his exceptional achievements in Qur’an recitation and his unwavering commitment to spiritual enlightenment,” the statement noted.
