Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised some terrorists in Katsina and rescued two kidnap victims in Plateau State in separate operations.

A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official X handle said troops in conjunction with a team from the Nigeria Police and Katsina State Community Watch Corps, engaged terrorists at Danmusa in Danmusa local government area of Katsina State.

The statement said troops in a fierce gun battle with terrorists neutralised one terrorist and recovered one AK-47 rifle, two rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, and a motorcycle.

The troops also recovered a bag containing four empty magazines and a power bank, potentially used for communication and explosive devices.

In another separate encounter, troops following a distress call on kidnapping activities along the Maraban-Jema’a road in Jos South local government area of Plateau State rescued two kidnap victims.

According to the statement, the kidnappers on sighting troops fled, abandoning a Peugeot 307 vehicle and two kidnap victims.
