The spokesman of the command, ASP Ahmad Rufai, who confirmed the arrest of officers simply identified as ASP Kulu and Elizabeth, said the command has commenced investigations on the alleged abduction of five children from the state.

It could be recalled that ASP Kulu alongside her accomplice, Elizabeth, were arrested by the FCT Police command for allegedly abducting five children, including a less than two-week-old baby from Sokoto State.

The spokesman said, “both the suspects and victims were transferred and handed over to the command from the FCT Police command for further investigation into the matter.”

Among those abducted were three toddlers under the ages of two and a five-year-old, Asmau Ya’u who was reportedly abducted while on her way to an Islamiyya school in Sokoto.

The suspects were said to be arrested while travelling from Sokoto to Abuja in a commercial 18-seater bus when some passengers alerted the police near Abuja after noticing that the custodians of the children could not breastfeed the children during a 7-hour journey from Sokoto to Abuja.

An official of the Human Rights Network, Sokoto State, Sirajo Madawaki said the case was transferred to the network office in the state from Abuja and investigation into the case has begun.

He assured that the network would pursue the case to its logical conclusion and ensure that the suspects were prosecuted and the children reunited with their respective parents.

One of the suspects, ASP Kulu, was said to be serving with the Kubwa Division; had applied for leave which was not granted before her trip to Sokoto.
