Gombe State commissioner for Water Resources, Mohammed Fawu has assured that the cut in water supply that caused hardships in the state would be over by today.

Our correspondent reports that there had been acute shortage of water in the state in the last one week, making residents to buy water from vendors at high costs while the less privileged were reportedly fetching from ponds and other dirty sources for house chores.

This is even as some philanthropists brought succour by supplying water in trucks to selected areas where teeming people queued up, scrambling to get some for their families.

However, while speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend via phone yesterday, the commissioner said the current water problem being faced by the residents was due to the falling of 31 electric poles on the road that connects Dadin Kowa Dam which supplies water to the state.

According to him, the government was on top of the situation and had fixed the collapsed poles adding that water supply would be restored before the end of Saturday.
