202 Held For Kidnapping, Other Offences In Enugu

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested two 202 suspects for their alleged involvement in kidnapping, armed robbery, rape and other offences in the state and its environs.

Enugu State Police commissioner, Kanayo Uzuegbu who disclosed this while briefing journalists said the command recorded the feat between April and May, 2024.

The commissioner stated that some of the suspects have been arraigned in court and remanded at correctional facilities while the remaining ones will be arraigned after investigations.

Kanayo further disclosed that the suspected criminals were arrested within Enugu and outside the state.

The commissioner stated that out of the 202 suspects, 35 were allegedly involved in kidnapping, while others were involved in armed robbery, vandalisation, murder, cultism, rape and unlawful possession of firearms.

He disclosed that the alleged rapist was arrested on April 25 after defiling a 4-year-old girl and causing serious damage in his house.

Kanayo described Enugu as the most peaceful state in Nigeria, adding that the people of the state are mostly law-abiding.

He used the opportunity to describe the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) as an aberration and urged people to go about their lawful businesses, assuring that the command would continue to provide adequate security for them.

 

On the recent attack by suspected herdsmen that led to the death of four persons, he promised to partner with the commissioners of police in Benue and Kogi states against the crime.
