Adeleke Kicks Over Return Of Osun Indigenes From Lagos

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has protested to his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over the reported return of youths believed to be indigenes of Osun to their state of origin allegedly by Lagos State government authorities.

LEADERSHIP gathered that several luxury buses were reportedly seen dropping off hundreds of youths at various points of Ilesa area of the state at the weekend after allegedly rounding them up in several parts of Lagos State.

A statement isued yesterday by the spokesperson to the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said his principal had consequently interfaced with Governor Sanwo-Olu over the development, urging the Lagos State governor to look into the matter and put an end to it.

“The report was confirmed by an investigation team set up on the veracity of the story by the Osun State government.

“In his interaction with the Lagos State governor on the incident, Governor Adeleke expressed shock at the development, urging Governor Sanwo-Olu to look into the matter and put an end to it if the report is true,” the statement said.

Raheed quoted Governor Adeleke as saying that, “I spoke with my brother, Governor Sanwo-Olu, on the matter. He too was surprised and he denied ever authorising any such action.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu has promised immediate investigation to unravel the facts of the situation. The Lagos team will update us as quickly as possible.

“I am subsequently directing our security agencies in Osun to mount surveillance in and around Ilesa to track the retunee youths and their destinations.

“I will update our people on this development. I urge residents to be calm while the security agencies carry out surveillance,” he said.
