STAY AWAY FROM DOWNPOURS

Colds can get worse when you get caught in the rain. There is a theory that says your body restricts blood flow to extremities, such as your nose, to keep your body warm. This explains why your nose runs when it is cold.

CONSUME VITAMIN C

Vitamin C can help speed up your recovery if you have the flu. Though it is still debatable, Vitamin C helps support your healthy immune system and reduces the severity of flu.

EATING A VARIETY OF WARMING DISHES

When the days grow chilly and rainy, you may prefer to drink warm drinks. Options are ranging– from a warm glass of green tea or hot chocolate; to a bowl of hot soup. Consumption of warm food and drinks can help prevent you from catching a cold or being exposed to other infections due to sudden temperature changes.

MAINTAIN A GOOD PERSONAL HYGIENE

People tend to stay indoors during the rainy season. However, it should be noted that germs are more likely to spread.  Be sure to maintain a clean, healthy, well-sanitized environment. Even if you catch a cold, keep your hands clean by washing them regularly or using a hand sanitizer.

MEET YOUR DAILY FLUID NEEDS

You may feel less thirsty when it is cold outside. However, you should not wait to feel thirsty to drink — as it may lead to dehydration. Be sure to keep yourself well-hydrated even in low temperatures to help flush out toxins from your body.

BRING AN UMBRELLA AND RAINCOAT

Whenever you go outside, remember to bring an umbrella, raincoat, or both during the rainy season. Protecting yourself from getting caught in the rain or staying in wet clothes is the best way to avoid colds, coughs, flu and fevers.
