Executive secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, has said Christian pilgrimage would now be held twice a year.

He said pilgrims would henceforth return to the tradition of 10 nights during pilgrimage.
Adegbite who made this known while speaking with journalists in Abuja, said the financial rate for the exercise would be ready next week, and after the ceiling, new pilgrims would not be admitted for the Easter exercise.

“We are starting with the Easter pilgrimage that is open now, and we are going to close it up by July, then we have the main pilgrimage that will start from November, and that will end by February.

“So, pilgrimage in Nigeria for the Christian community is no longer every month where 10 people will go, 20 people will go, we are going to do it twice, and that is what we were known for in the past, so we are going back to that,” he said.

The executive secretary told Nigerians that with his two weeks visit to Jordan and Israel all pointed at peace in Israel despite the fight in Gaza.

He added that Gaza the epicentre of fight between Hamas and Israel has never been parts of NCPC pilgrimage itinerary.

He further said this year’s Easter pilgrimage airlift would start in June and end in July, while the December pilgrimage is slated between November and February 2025.
