The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 33 years old Aliyu Musa for allegedly abusing the use of social media in the state.

Musa is accused of uploading a disturbing video on his TikTok handle @faty5076 where he disparaged stakeholders in the state as being unjust.

Police said the Musa does not have any proof to substantiate his claims as contained in the viral video, insisting that such content may not only tarnish the reputations of those affected, but can also lead to breakdown of law and order due to their sensitive responsibilities as public officeholders in the state in particular, and Nigeria in general.

The Command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Yahaya while strongly condemning the act, vowed that the police will deal with anyone who is bent on violating the laws of the land.

He added that preliminary investigations so far revealed that the TikToker had the intention to demean the reputation of prominent personalities and leaders in the state.

He further noted that it is imperative to employ proactive measures to guide and counsel social media handlers to be cautious of their posts to avoid violating the laws that defined and regulate social media policies.
