Katsina State government in collaboration with the Adolescent Girls Initiative and Empowerment (AGILE), will give scholarships to over 150,000 secondary school girls from Junior Secondary School up to the time they will complete their secondary education.
The AGILE project coordinator, Mustapha Shehu disclosed this at a one-day zonal level community sensitisation and awareness creation on the AGILE project held in Daura local government.
He said the project intends to see how girls continue their education to the time they will complete it, equip them with life and digital skills to meet up with the contemporary happenings around the globe and to be self-employed without depending on government jobs.
Shehu added that about 570 new schools would be built in some selected schools, stressing that the least a school would collect is about N3 million to execute the project depending on the viability of the project.
“They would also be trained on digital skills and computer knowledge to be self-employed. Under same intervention, AGILE will commence training of 150 teachers who will further train teachers that would be teaching these students in schools across the state,” he said.
