Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has charged the people of Takum local government area of the state to give peace a chance to allow development in the area.
Kefas stated this during a grand reception for the chief of Takum who was appointed to succeed the Ukqe Takum, Ahmadu Ali who died 28 years ago.
He said the appointment of Sopiya Gboshi was a way of reconciliation, fairness and unity of the people of the area, and urged them to cooperate with his administration and the new chief to bring development and dividends of democracy to the area.
He also urged the new chief to rule with integrity and respect for all tribes in the area to allow peace reign.
“Today, we bring peace and unity to Takum. Your role as the chief of Takum is that you must rule with integrity and respect for all.
“This is not a moment of victory, but a moment for shared prosperity and great future for Takum. We pledge to ensure that all displaced people return to their homes, we also pledge to assist those in need to return to normal lives for a brighter and inclusive future,” the governor said.
