An unidentified woman is reportedly in coma after a soldier slapped her at Banex area, Wuse 2 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The soldier is among those deployed to guard the Banex Plaza, which was shut after a clash between some military personnel and the traders.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the lady incurred the wrath of the soldier yesterday when she trekked on the barricaded road where she was stopped by soldiers.

It was learnt that when she was being interrogated by the soldiers, one of them slapped her and she collapsed.

She was reportedly rushed into a van which sped off the scene.

It is, however, unclear if she was being taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Meanwhile, traders are still counting their losses over the attack by the soldiers and the closure of the plaza, which is the hub of phones, computers and other accessories in Abuja.

Trouble started at Banex after a trader refused to collect a bad phone sold to a young man who invited two soldiers but were beaten up by some traders.

Although the police stepped in to resolve the situation, the soldiers returned to the plaza and forced the traders to shut it down.

Some videos on social media showed the soldiers chasing a crowd and punishing a few others.

The Nigerian Army has remained silent on the matter.
