Kwara State government has taken the campaign against drug abuse to schools in the state.

The campaign is aimed at sensitising the students on the dangers that drug abuse poses to them and the society at large.

Members of the State Drug Control Committee yesterday commenced the mass mobilisation and campaign against drug abuse at the Government Secondary School, Ilorin.

The state commissioner for health, Dr Amina Ahmed El-lmam used the forum to call on  students to shun all forms of drug abuse.

Represented by the director of Pharmaceutical Services, Mrs Barakat Olarewaju, the commissioner highlighted the effects of drug abuse to include untimely deaths and mental disorders.

She urged the students to desist from taking any hard drug which could destroy their lives.
