Federal government, under its Ministry of Lands and Urban Development, Renewed Hope Cities project has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of 500 housing units at Janguza village of Tofa local government area of Kano State.
Delivering an address at the event yesterday, the minister of Lands and Urban Development Arc. Dangiwa explained that the Renewed Hope City in Kano will feature 100 units of 1-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, 300 units of 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, and 100 units of 3-bedroom semi-detached bungalows.
He added that “these homes are designed with affordability and future expansion in mind, allowing homeowners to enlarge their living spaces as their incomes improve.”
The minister emphasized the importance of adhering to quality standards and timely completion, urging developers, Cosgrove Investment Limited, Vibe Bottega Ltd, and Frasier Stone Ltd, to deliver quality work within three months as substandard jobs will not be tolerated.
He highlighted various purchase options created to make home ownership accessible, including single-digit mortgage loans with up to 30-year terms, Rent-to-Own schemes, and outright purchase options.
This project is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader vision under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates project, which began with a 3,112-unit project in Karsana, Abuja,“ he added.
The federal government plans to construct 50,000 houses across the country in two project patterns. It will construct 500 units of houses each in the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja under the Renewed Hope Cities project.
The other project is the Renewed Hope Estate project in which 250 units of houses will be built in each of the 30 states of the federation excluding the states that benefited from the 500 houses in the Northwest geopolitical zone.
In his address, the Kano State governor while performing the ground breaking hailed President Bola Tinubu for the project saying it will indeed equip Kano as a mega city.
He expressed the unwavering support of the Kano State government to the federal government project.
