Omini stated that restoring order to the Assembly is necessary to support Governor Otu’s efforts to ensure that the fortunes of the state witness a turnaround.

He averred that the vote represents the members’ cooperation and unity in their efforts to raise the standard of living for the people of Cross River State who had been yearning to have a good life.

He stressed that the vote of confidence in favour of the embattled speaker is an affirmation that the lawmakers were so determined to support Governor Otu and the interest of the state.

Last week, confusion broke out in the assembly leading to the speaker’s removal, a development that led security agents to seal up the complex.

With the vote of confidence passed on Ayambem, the crisis in the Assembly which started on Wednesday April 24, 2024, has been put to rest.

In his remarks, chairman of the House Committee on Political Affairs and member representing Etung state constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Kingsley Ntui, confirmed Ayambem’s  reinstatement.

“Yes, we had him reaffirmed even though we are yet to complete the process because we have to re-elect him again. His reaffirmation became possible after a protracted meeting with the state governor where several issues which I won’t disclose to you right now were touched,” Ntui said.
