The German-based Forum for Innovations in African Universities (FIAU) has announced the appointment of a former director general of the National Orientation Agency, Dr. Mike Omeri, as executive director for the African region.

The appointment is contained in a letter signed by the founder and co-founder, Paschal Anosike and Klaus Schneider respectively.

“Given your extensive experience and your strong commitment to fostering innovation in higher education, we are confident that you will be an invaluable asset to the team. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with stakeholders, managing logistical arrangements and benefit our vision and mission to create a change in higher education sector across the continent,” the letter said.

Omeri, who hails from Nasarawa State, is expected to bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership to FIAU.

He will be spearheading FIAU’s efforts to promote and implement educational programmes and policies that enhance the quality and accessibility of higher education across the continent.

In his response to the appointment, he said; “I am highly honoured to take on this new role and look forward to collaborating with universities, policymakers, and stakeholders across Africa. Together, we will drive meaningful change and empower the next generation of African leaders through innovative educational initiatives.”
