The Tangale socio-cultural group in Gombe State known as Tangale Community Overseas (TCO) has called on the Gombe State Commissioner of Police and the Department of State Services to stop a proposed visit by some Tangale kinsmen to the state governor, Inuwa Yahaya.

Recall that a section of Tangale tribesmen were vehemently opposed to the governor’s appointment of the current traditional ruler of Tangale in Billiri local government otherwise known as ‘Mai Tangale’.
The appointment also led to crises that led to injuries in the local government area.
TCO in a press release issued yesterday which was jointly signed by the chairman of the TCO Think-Tank Committee, Andele Tadi and the general secretary, Lamela Lakorok opined that their visit is capable of generating crisis in the Tangale chiefdom.

According to the statement, a similar meeting held in the past has allegedly generated tension in the land, hence the need to draw the attention of security and concerned stakeholders.

“On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, some unpatriotic and greedy individuals of Tangale extraction in connivance with some settlers in the land converged on Poshiya, the stool of Tangale chiefdom, and held a meeting with the man installed by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.

“From the speech of Governor Yahaya’s appointee, it is clear the Governor was aware of their meeting and is expecting them to soon pay him a courtesy visit to Gombe. We learnt that they are set to meet again on June 2, 2024 to finalise on the said visit to Governor Yahaya.

“By this, we also place on notice the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mr Nuhu Ribadu, and all concerned bodies in Nigeria that whatever crisis happens in Tangale land related to the implementation of decisions taken at this meeting, or anything related to Mai Tangle saga, the governor should be held responsible,” they said.
