The Benue Diaspora Vanguard (BDV) said those behind attacks on the SGF are expelled members, acting the script of fraudulent elements within certain quarters in the state.

According to a statement signed by the group’s president and secretary general, Titus Hwande and Audu Oche, respectively, the diaspora group said President Bola Tinubu and Senator Akume are focused on the progress of the nation.

The statement said Akume’s has shown leadership and commitment to fairness and inclusivity despite attacks from the camp of Governor Hyacinth Alia.

“We wish to categorically distance ourselves from the recent allegations levied against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
These baseless accusations are nothing but a desperate attempt to tarnish the reputation of a dedicated public servant and a true democrat,” the statement said.

“We, the Benue Diaspora Vanguard, have been following the developments in our beloved state and are appalled by the orchestrated campaign to discredit Senator Akume.

“We firmly believe that these allegations are politically-motivated and orchestrated by individuals who are bent on causing chaos and disunity within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his exemplary leadership and his commitment to good governance. His appointment of Senator Akume as SGF is a testament to his dedication to building a strong and capable team. Senator Akume has a proven track record of service to our great nation, and we have no doubt that he will continue to serve with the highest level of integrity and dedication.

“It is, therefore, unfortunate that some individuals, who can only be described as emergency APC members, have chosen to engage in this smear campaign against Senator Akume. Their actions are a clear indication of their desperation.

“Akume has shown exemplary leadership and commitment to fairness and inclusivity in his appointments, dedicated to the principles of justice and equity and ensuring that all citizens of Benue State, regardless of their political affiliations or backgrounds, have a sense of belonging in the current administration.”

They however urged Benue citizens to keep supporting Akume and APC.
