Speaking at the premiere,

Ndubisi Onyinye of the UNDP commended the cast and crew and noted that Gender-based violence was an issue that needed to be tackled in Nigeria as “Women and girls are gender champions because we are all represented by women. This project is close to my heart, unfortunately my father passed two weeks ago. As I was preparing for this premiere, I lost my dad. And one thing that strikes me is that he was the first gender champion I met in life.

“On behalf of the UNDP family and the entire UN family, it’s a profound honour to present to the public ‘Deafening Silence’ and this is not just a movie but a movement towards gender equality and the eradication of sexual and gender-based violence in Nigeria and beyond” says Onyinye.

Mr Rogers of Europe Union noted that the project was successfully crafted and made real by partnerships. “The European Union and the United Nations came together to combat all forms of violence against women and girls. In the last five years, there has never been an investment like the joint project in England,” he said.
