The Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) is to conduct local government council elections on Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Chairman of BASIEC, Ahmed Makama announced this during a press briefing on Friday, assuring that the commission was prepared to deliver a free, fair and credible election.

He said in accordance with the relevant laws, BASIEC was given a 60-day notice for the conduct of the election in 20 local government areas of the state.

“If you calculate 60 days from today, it will be August 6 which is not a Saturday, and elections are usually conducted on Saturdays. We have therefore moved the election to Saturday, August 10, 2024.”

He also announced that the process of selling nomination forms has commenced and interested people are urged to come out and purchase the forms.

The BASIEC chairman called on political parties and other stakeholders in the conduct of the election to start the processes which will culminate in a smooth conduct.
