The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day celebration.

In an announcement made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, he congratulated Nigerians on the occasion. The declaration was confirmed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, and released on Tuesday.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the efforts of the nation’s founding fathers, emphasising the importance of unity, security, peace, and the indivisibility of Nigeria.

“As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible entity,” he stated.

He urged citizens to remain committed to the principles of democratic governance and acknowledged the ongoing efforts of President Bola Tinubu to implement reforms aimed at reviving the nation’s economy and enhancing security.
