FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Christopher Kuje stated this in Port Harcourt during a press conference attended by heads of security agencies in the state.

Kuje also said that 472 regular personnel, 250 special marshals and 12 operational vehicles as well as one tow truck will be deployed for enforcement and prompt clearance of obstructions on the roads during the celebration.

“As custodian of road safety on the roads, we in Rivers State have put place measures to ensure safe travels for bumper celebration.

“The objective of this year’s Sallah special operations is geared towards massive reduction of road traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries as well as prompt response to road traffic crash victims, unhindered movement, purposeful public education and speedy removal of obstructions from the highways, amongst others,” Kuje said.

In a bid to reduce crashes, he added that the FRSC will be strict while enforcing vices like overloading, dangerous driving, and lane indiscipline, among others.

“We are also embarking on aggressive enforcement on the following offences; overloading, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, route violation, road obstruction and use of phone while driving.

“Others are use of seatbelt and child restraint violation as well as passengers’ manifest violation, mechanical deficiency, use of SPY plate numbers amongst others,” the sector commander said.
