Grassroots Sports Summit Unveils Website, Affirms NESG As Technical Partner

The organisers of the National Grassroots Sports Development Summit 2026 have unveiled an official website to facilitate free registration and provide information ahead of the two-day event in Abuja.

The summit, scheduled for 18–19 November at the Banquet Hall, State House, Presidential Villa, Abuja, is being organised by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye.

The organisers also reaffirmed the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) as the summit’s technical partner, bringing its expertise in policy dialogue, economic planning and stakeholder engagement to efforts to develop a sustainable grassroots sports framework.

The website, grass-root-sports.vercel.app, will serve as an information hub where prospective participants can access details about the summit, explore its programme and register free of charge.

With the theme, “Creating a New Pathway for Sustainable Grassroots Sports Development”, the summit is expected to bring together policymakers, sports administrators, development partners, corporate organisations, coaches, athletes and other stakeholders to address challenges affecting sports development in Nigeria.

Adeboye said the digital platform would widen access to information and encourage participation from stakeholders across Nigeria and beyond.

“The future of Nigerian sports must be built through collaboration, innovation and deliberate planning. This summit is about bringing ideas, expertise and resources together to create opportunities for young talents, especially those at the grassroots,” he said.

He explained that discussions would focus on five priority areas: participation, talent development, infrastructure, the sports economy and international pathways.

Adeboye urged sports federations, state and local governments, educational institutions, private-sector organisations and young sports enthusiasts to register and participate in the summit.

The organisers said the event would seek to move beyond discussions to practical commitments capable of creating lasting opportunities for young Nigerian athletes.
