The signal , which also directed  the deployment of over 47,000  personnel nationwide to provide maximum security coverage and protect all Critical National Assets ( CNAI)  before, during and after the festive season was contained in a statement signed by the NSCDC national spokesman, CSC Babawale Afolabi, yesterday.

The statement said; “Dr Audi directed that supervisory DCGs , ACG’s and their respective commandants’ should ensure adequate deployment of officers and assets to critical locations most especially Eid prayer grounds and recreation centres to build confidence amongst the citizens and fun seekers.”

He warned that personnel deployed must be professional and mindful of the fundamental rights of the citizens,  while discharging their responsibilities with all sense of decorum and alertness.

The statement added; “The CG  has directed all zonal commanders and state commandants to ensure adherence to operational order, standard operating procedure and code of conduct as they work tirelessly to maintain peace and order in their domain. He also ordered that all critical national assets and Infrastructure must be jealously safeguarded , while massive arrests should be carried out on vandals and economic saboteurs.”

According to the statement, the NSCDC boss further explained that the deployment of over 47,000 personnel which comprised all ‘Special Forces, CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Agro Rangers, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, SWAT and other specialised units, is aimed at ensuring round-the-clock surveillance on CNAI and free movement without any fear or intimidation.

Dr Audi stressed the need for synergy with other security agencies through effective cooperation, collaboration and coordination to combat emerging threats without delay.

“Since no agency has monopoly of strategy to tackling security challenges; the NSCDC will continue to collaborate with sister security agencies to enhance the nation’s security architecture.

“It is, therefore necessary for all formations to be on alert and intensify efforts through constant patrols, surveillance and intelligence gathering both on land and the coastal areas even as all black spots are marked red zones,” he said
