Crystal Palace are preparing for the potential departure of Michael Olise from Selhurst Park this summer and have initiated discussions with Arsenal regarding the acquisition of Reiss Nelson.

The 22-year-old Olise has drawn interest from Chelsea and Newcastle, both of which have approached Palace about a move, according to Sky Sports.

Olise, who renewed his contract with Crystal Palace last summer, is committed to the club until 2027. However, his contract includes a £60 million release clause, making him a viable target for interested clubs.

According to CaughtOffside, Crystal Palace have begun exploring potential replacements for Olise, with Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson being a prime candidate. Nelson, 24, is also on the radar of Fulham, West Ham United, and Nottingham Forest, but it is Palace that have taken the initial steps towards securing his transfer.

Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing an initial bid of around €10 million for Nelson, though Arsenal are seeking €25 million for the winger. Nelson, who is not central to Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal, played just 255 minutes in the Premier League this season. A move to Selhurst Park could offer him more regular playing time and an opportunity to further develop his career.

David Ornstein has reported that Nelson is considering his options this summer, making a transfer a strong possibility. Ornstein also confirmed that Arsenal rejected multiple offers for Nelson during the January transfer window but are now open to selling him for around £20 million (€23.7 million).

Nelson would like a more consistent Premier League action at his next club compared to Arsenal. He extended his contract with Arsenal last summer, yet he started just one Premier League match and made only 22 appearances across all competitions during the season.

His current deal with the Gunners runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year, meaning Arsenal are not under immediate pressure to sell unless their valuation is met.

However, selling Nelson could significantly bolster Arsenal’s summer transfer budget. The club is keen to ensure compliance with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability (PSR) rules, and player sales are crucial to funding new signings while adhering to these financial regulations.
