Speaking at the 2024 chief executive officers(CEO)’s Retreat of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers(NCRIB) held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the governor of the State, Pastor Umo Eno emphasised the importance of Insurance in ensuring sustainable economic growth.

According to him, “Insurance is a very key part of any business that seeks to survive; in fact the business of insurance exists to ensure the sustenance of other businesses. Therefore, the importance of what you are doing to the Nation’s economic development cannot be overemphasised”

The governor, who was represented by the commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Almond Bob noted that, it was important to recognize the crucial role that Brokers play as insurance intermediaries, using their skills and expertise to arrange insurance protection in the very best interest of their clients.

“As you can rightly be described as the pillars of businesses in Nigeria, protecting the nation’s wealth, the part you play in advising your clients on types of policies to choose, recommending the selection of Underwriters, rendering personalized insurance services that give your clients ease of mind, just to mention a few, have gone a long way to ensure the success of so many businesses in Nigeria, and I commend you for this.

“One of the eight goals of the ARISE AGENDA is ensuring sustainable Economic Growth, and one of the ways this can be achieved is through having viable businesses, with proper insurance covers. I have no doubt that the Council will touch on the current predicaments and challenges facing the insurance business in Nigeria and also fashion a way forward”, he said.

Also speaking at the massively attended CEOs’ Retreat, the president of the Council, Prince Babatunde Oguntade urged the state government to patronize only Registered Insurance Brokers under the aegis of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers to avoid dealing with charlatans.

Presenting a Compendium of Registered Insurance Brokers to the representative of the State governor, the president disclosed that comprehensive details of all registered insurance brokers could be gotten from the Compendium.
