Olympic bound Nigerian star, Aruna Quadri continued his upward trajectory in the latest men’s global rankings released yesterday.

In the latest ratings, Qaudri moved up one place to 16th position, amassing a total of 1280 points.
The 35 year old was one of the high profile names expected to light up the WTT Series Lagos 2024 but injury has ruled him out of the tournament.

In his absence, some of the top players competing at the five-day championship arrived at the weekend, with the Indian, Chinese, and Korean contingents touching down in Lagos yesterday in readiness for the preliminary matches, which serve off today.

Nigerian attention will now be fixed on Muizz Adegoke and Abdulbasit Abdulfatai as the local up-and-comers take up positions in the main draw.

Both players made their WTT Series debuts in the qualifying rounds at last year’s WTT Contender Lagos 2023, and now get their first taste of main draw action in the competition.

This is the second-ever WTT Contender event that will be staged in Nigeria, hosting table tennis talents from the world over for a week of high-octane action at the Sir Molade Okoya Thomas Indoor Sports Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere Lagos.
