ATCON Inducted As FADB Founding Member

The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), has been inducted as a founding member of the Federation of African Digital Businesses (FADB).

The inauguration took place in Morocco. Founding members of of the Federation comprised APEBI du Maroc, represented by Redouane EL HALOUI, chairman; president ATCON of Nigeria, represented by Tony EMOEKPERE; GOTIC of Côte d’Ivoire, represented by Mohamed SOUNKERE, representative of chairman Laurent GNON and REPTIC from Cameroon, represented by Dr.-Ing. Pierre-François KAMANOU, President;

Others are ICT Chamber of Rwanda, represented by Emery RUBAGENGA; PROTIC of Guinea-Conakry, represented by Boubacar 55 BARRY, President; Congo-Brazza Chamber of Commerce, represented by Paul OBAMBI, President and Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, represented by Mahamoud Iddiris Khaireh.

In a press statement, made available to LEADERSHIP, the president, ATCON, Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere, said the objectives of the federation are to encourage the membership of all African businesses operating in the digital sector, with the aim of strengthening economic integration and regional cooperation in this field.

Emoekpere revealed that it has been collectively decided by the member countries to establish the headquarters of the federation in Casablanca, adding that it shall be funded by the Kingdom of Morocco for the first five years.

 

“We are committed to working together to create a business-friendly environment in the digital sector in Africa, fostering innovation, growth, competitiveness, and wealth creation for African businesses in this strategic sector, as well as job creation.

 

“The Association has informed all the relevant agencies under the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy,” the ATCON president added.
