A boy, Abel Ekene, 12, has been bestowed with the traditional title of “Ogbuchai” by His Royal Majesty Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume, the monarch of Akumazi Kingdom, Ika North East local government area of Delta State.
The honour was bestowed on Abel after he displayed exceptional skills and bravery during a hunting expedition in the lush forests surrounding the kingdom.
Abel’s moment of valour came when he hunted down a rare white rabbit, a feat considered significant in the community’s cultural traditions.
According to age-old customs, the royal father recognises the individual who manages to capture or kill a white animal.
In recognition of Abel’s remarkable achievement, HRM Obi Henry Ezeagwukpo Jegbefume decided to bestow upon him the revered title of “Ogbuchai”.
The monarch, adorned in regal attire, congratulated young Abel, “l commend you for your exceptional courage. I urge you to continue adhering to principles of good conduct, treating your peers with respect, and demonstrating unwavering respect towards your parents and elders in the community.”
During an interview, Abel expressed his heartfelt joy upon receiving the prestigious title, grateful for the recognition and the responsibility that comes with it.
