The Green and Digital Economy section of the EU delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community Of West African States has sought partnership with the Abia State government on the government’s areas of priorities.

Head of the section, Mrs Inga Stefanowicz stated this when they visited the governor, Dr Alex Otti in the state, saying the areas are hydro power, circular economy, and human development

She said the state was selected as one of the states that could benefit from the partnership, adding that the government is required to pay a 30 per cent counterpart fund to qualify for the partnership.

In a response, the governor said when his administration came on board last year it realised that there were many areas and services requiring urgent priority attention.

“Some of the priority projects are also of importance to me. We had earlier on assumption of office declared a state of emergency on them,” he said.

“The three projects are like music to my ears because they are projects that we have started even before this visit and all we want you to do is just to plug in.”

“If you’re looking for 30 percent,  we already have done more than that but even if it doesn’t count, we can also put the money down.” the governor maintained.

Otti, who assured that the government would live up to the requirement, expressed the hope that the partnership would yield the expected dividends.
