The gathering, pivotal during ARCON President Dipo Ajayi’s tenure, marks a substantial advancement in understanding landscape architecture, including its eligibility criteria, distinctive attributes, and scope- combating desertification, restoration of derelict land, flooding, coastal flood control among other climate change impact issues.

Central to the discussions was President Dipo Ajayi’s visionary initiative to unite various architectural disciplines under ARCON’s umbrella and collaborate effectively, especially amidst challenges like climate change impacting the nation.

During the meeting, Mr. Amos Alao, representing SLAN, congratulated President Dipo Ajayi on his re-election and lauded his proactive stance in advocating for the integration of landscape architects within ARCON’s framework. Emphasizing their role in shaping Nigeria’s architectural landscape and contributing to Sustainable Development Goals 1, 3, 11, 12, 14, and 15, Alao underscored the importance of their inclusion.

Insights from SLAN’s Board of Trustees members, including Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie, Prof. Tunji Adejumo, Dr. Saleh-Bala, Mrs. Deborah Nenchi, and Mr. Bartho Ekweruo, enriched the dialogue with perspectives from academia, practice, and governmental agencies.
