Oyo Gov’t Sets July 12 For New Olubadan’s Coronation

Oyo State Government has announced Friday, July 12, 2024 for the coronation of Oba Owolabi Olakuleyin as the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The State’s Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, while making this known on Friday through in a statement said Governor Seyi Makinde will also present Staff of Office to Oba Olakulehin as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland at a ceremony scheduled to hold at ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan.

The statement also urged the people of Ibadan cultivate the habit of patience.

“Our people must learn to be patient and believe an administration that has not let them down in five years,” Oyelade said.

He reiterated that insinuations and mischievous innuendos had not derailed Governor Makinde from the path of justice and fairness.

Oyo State Government further advised the people of the State, particularly the people of Ibadan to await the spectacle of the coronation and presentation of the staff of office on July 12.

The stool of Olubadan became vacant following when the last occupier, Oba Mahood Lekan Balogun joined his forebears on March 14, 2024.

Oba Olakuleyin was appointed as the Olubadan-designate by the Ibadan kingmakers at a meeting on April 12, 2024 in accordance with the Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration of 1957.

Governor Makinde, after insinuations conveyed his approval of Oba Olakuleyin via a memo dated June 14, 2024.
